(specifics for the requirements for each shield can be found in the Crafter's Recipe Book available from the Crafter's Guild Merchant.
The Shield of Ages is a vital defensive item for a warrior. It provides a large amount of HP and Armor Class, but perhaps most importantly, it gives damage mitigation. Each 5th level of the shield gives a single percentage to mitigation (e.g. a SoTA 1 would give 1% mitigation, SoTA 2=1% mitigation, SoTA 6=2% mitigation, SoTA 26=6% mitigation)
